■ The meaning of yoga

In Sanskrit, it means "connection" and "connection".
The etymology is "Yuju" which refers to the harness "yoke" that connects the horse and the carriage.

In the process of changing this yuju to the word yoga,

It is said that it came to have the meaning of "connecting".

■ Origin of yoga

It is not well known when, where and how yoga originated.
Archaeologically, the earliest possible origin of yoga is the age of the Indus civilization, which is said to have flourished around 3000 BC.

India's indigenous people, the Dravidians, flow through the northwestern part of India (currently most of it is Pakistani territory),
An ancient civilization built in the Indus Valley.

In the wall paintings of Mohenjo Daro, a ruin representing this civilization, there are carved figures of people in poses like yoga and zazen.

 

■ History of yoga “Japan”

around 806 It is said that Kukai brought it back from the Tang dynasty of China and introduced it under the notation of Yuga.
1919 Tempu Nakamura, who is said to have spread yoga in Japan for the first time, devised the ``Shinshin Unification Method''.
1940's Mr. Sekizo Miura is active as a pioneer of hatha yoga instructors,

1958 Masahiro Oki, the creator of ``Oki Yoga'', established the ``Japan Yoga Association'', and ``Oki Yoga'' later spread overseas.
1966 Tsuruji Sabota, Professor Emeritus of Osaka University, translates and explains the Yoga Sutras, the oldest systematic scripture in the history of yoga.
1970s The first yoga boom arrives (yoga as exercise spreads generally)
1980 1st International Comprehensive Yoga World Congress held
1995 Aum Subway Sarin Incident (Because it was a religious group that sang yoga and meditation, the yoga population temporarily declined sharply due to the negative image of yoga.)
2003 onwards The yoga boom, which was mainly caused by Hollywood celebrities in America, reached Japan, and the popularity of yoga with high fashion and style accelerated, especially among young women (arrival of the second yoga boom).
2004 Japan's largest yoga festival "Yoga Festa" held (gathering of yoga instructors and enthusiasts across different schools and promoting lively exchanges throughout the industry)
2010s Yoga population in Japan exceeds 1 million

 

■Yoga has a history of 5000 years

Yoga has a long history, dating back to around 3000 BC.
Its history is nearly 5000 years old! ! !

Reflecting the background of each era, it was handed down from master to disciple in ancient times.
In modern times, many people can easily work on it,
Various styles were created,
Yoga exists.


That's why it's "really good for people's mental and physical health"
I think that it continues without being obsolete even after thousands of years.
